How do I participate?
First, get your Gallery Submission Package here:
store.6x6gallery.com/gallerysubmissionpackage.aspx

Use the provided canvas to create your mini-masterpiece, set your sale price, then send it back to us for a guaranteed spot in the exhibit.
All styles are welcomed (and indeed, encouraged!)
We also have a scaled down version of our submission package available
for local NYC artists:

What are the restrictions on what I can create?
We don't want to crimp your creative style, but in order for the gallery to be enjoyable for everyone, there are a few rules:
1) Organic matter is not allowed (e.g. nothing that will decompose or attract bugs.)
2) Your artwork should not emit noise, light, or scent.
3) Nothing should extend off the edges of the canvas, or protrude from the front of the canvas more than a quarter of an inch. (thick application of paint or collage is fine)
4) All canvases will be hung to be displayed as a square, not a diamond.
5) Please do not not cover the back of the canvas as it interferes with our ability to hang the artwork.
And finally, we are EXTREMELY tolerant of creative expression and different points of view, but we retain the right to refuse any canvas that in our opinion is patently offensive or hateful.

Can photographers participate?
Yes. We have received a number of canvases with photography adhered to them (sometimes painted over, sometimes not.) One photographer had his images printed on canvas, removed our canvas material from it's wooden base, then re-wrapped his printed canvas on top of it. It looked great. Any way you want to attach your photography to our standard canvas base, provided it doesn't stick out past the edges, is fine with us. There is one additional requirement for photographers (and digital artists): please complete the "materials used" section of the artist card to clearly indicate that it is a photo (or inkjet, giclee, etc.) print on canvas.

Can I show more than one piece at a time? Can I create a series?
Yes. If you are submitting more than one work for an exhibit, please let us know if you would like them displayed together.

When is the deadline?

We have a new exhibit every month, so there is a new deadline approaching all the time.
To put it another, more gentle way: You can never miss the deadline, you can only be early for the following show.
The deadline for each exhibit is the 15th of the previous month. (i.e. for the March exhibition, the deadline is February 15th.)

What price should I put on my artwork?
Always a difficult decision. While we can't advise you on your particular piece, we can give you some general information on how other artists have priced their work.
So far, the most popular price point (by a wide margin) is $100. (25%!)
29% of artists priced their piece lower ($30-$90); the other 46% of artists priced higher ($110-$575)
The average price is $140, and the median price (predictably) is $100.
Remember, if your piece sells, you will receive 80% of the retail price that you assign to your canvas.

When are openings held?
Unless otherwise announced on this website, openings will be held the first Friday of every month
at Charmingwall (191 West 4th St) from 6pm-8pm
