Back in 2007 we opened a fine arts gallery called Charmingwall in the West Village of New York City.
The idea behind it was simple; curate an exemplary set of open-edition fine art prints and sell them at a price that anyone can afford. ($20!)
The concept was an immediate success and got us noticed by such cool hunters as Daily Candy, Elle Magazine,
Time Out New York, Decor8, New York magazine and countless blogs.
On a couple of occasions, we had a showcase of small format original works from our Charmingwall artists – a show that we called “The Tiny Art Show.”
It was one of the most exciting events at Charmingwall, and it got us thinking... what if we could invite anyone who loves creating art to participate...
The 6x6 Project was born.
Each month, the 6x6 Project will exhibit a new collection of original art at Charmingwall – each and every piece on a six inch square canvas.
This small and consistent size allows the gallery to show the works of a large and diverse group of artists every month.
It also allows collectors the opportunity to curate their own selection of artwork at an identical size that will look great when hung together.
The next opening will be on Friday at 6pm, February 5th, 2010. Please join us! 191 West 4th St, NY, NY
For participation information, take a look at our ARTIST FAQ
Please note: Artwork can be dropped off (and submission kits purchased) at either Charmingwall 191 West 4th St (12pm-7pm everyday),
or at 531 East 13th Street, Paper Slam entrance (Monday - Friday 9am-6pm)
Check us out on Facebook. And read more on our Charmingwall blog.
